Division Elections

How will officers be on-boarded after the election?

Elected officers will meet with IPPA leadership shortly after the election to discuss IPPA bylaws, guidelines and communication and reporting processes. Once elected, officers will be expected to review and approve the Division charter. They may also develop additional leadership roles, such as a Membership, Communication or Event Chair.

Will division officers receive any compensation?

Division offices are volunteer positions.

Are there term limits?

Outgoing Division Presidents will transition into the Immediate Past-President role and are not eligible for a subsequent term as President-Elect. There are no term limits for the position of Secretary, assuming the outgoing Secretary stands for and wins re-election.

If I belong to more than one division, may I run for multiple offices?

No. A person may only become a candidate for one position in one division.

What is expected of elected officers (e.g. time commitment, etc.)?

Time commitment will vary depending on the programs and activities launched by each division. At minimum, division officers should expect to spend 1-2 hours per week supporting association activities, plus the time required to initiate new programs within their own divisions. What is the purpose of requiring leadership representation from both scholarship and practice?

This leadership structure wherein the Division President and President-Elect come from alternate professional domains was designed to reflect IPPA’s dual emphasis on the advancement of scholarship and practice. This leadership structure will model and hopefully enable collaboration and cooperation between those who conduct and apply research, thus furthering IPPA’s mission.

How will the winners be declared?

Each candidate will have to personally submit his or her candidacy via the Submission form on the top of this page. However, you can encourage a colleague to seek office by sending him or her an email via our Email a colleague form, provided that you know this person’s email address.
