Positive Society – Wellbeing for All Through a Wellbeing Economy Approach
with Dora Gudmundsdottir
Jan 26, 2022, 5pm EST*
Abstract:From the beginning, positive psychology was aimed at increasing wellbeing for individuals, groups and society. Nevertheless, the importance of looking beyond individual wellbeing has received less attention. The contexts in which we live, love, work and play profoundly impact who we are and how we act. There is an increasing recognition that positive psychology has the potential to make a broader contribution to a more positive society. Positive aspects of health and the matters of happiness and wellbeing have been raised in policy making all over the world. WHO, OECD, UN and EU have encouraged countries to focus on happiness and wellbeing, to develop reliable measures on wellbeing and collect population data as well as to develop actions to increase health and wellbeing. The adoption of these wellbeing measures by states, policymakers and other members of the international community are now paving the way towards the concept now known as the wellbeing economy. In this webinar the topics of positive society and wellbeing economy will be explored with real examples from countries that have implemented a wellbeing economy in order to create a more positive society which aims at wellbeing for all.
