Dear Alberto, I really enjoyed your presentation. Your aim is to design an intervention that helps employees achieve their best self, reach their goals and have high well-being at work. You have drawn on a lot of positive psychology and positive organizational scholarship science such as psychological capital, mindfulness, character strengths, core values, positive coping and growth mindset. The intervention involves face to face and use of an App. You have outlined the challenge of securing top-level leadership support.Your plans to evaluate the intervention using the quasi-experimental design to assess happiness, engagement and performance via self report surveys and senior leader data. The use of questions that you have woven into the presentation help to guide the viewer. Your invitation to ask us to imagine your positive workplace is very appealing. Well done!
Dear Professor Waters,
Thank you very much for your comments! I’m really happy to read your kind words. My colleagues and me are very concerned about the importance of evidence-based intervention. Our aim is to increase society well-being through positive interventions at work. We spend much time working in our lives, so it is very important to get high levels of well-being at work. Moreover, we think that work is one of the best field to increase personal growth. Researching and working on this is a high motivational challenge, but it is also a quite difficult task. For that reason could be important to design synergetic, dynamic and time-efficiency designs, to engage organizations in participating on interventions. That is what we try to address with this proposal.
Thank you. Keep in touch.
Thank you Alberto! I enjoyed reading the questions and even more the possibilities you offer to practitioners. I do believe finding and being your Best Positive Self and sharing that Self with others Best Positive Selves allows leaders and employees to walk the path to productivity and Wellbeing. I am curious as to know more about the functioning of the App. Thank you!
Hi Alejanda! Thank you for your comments. Training transfer is an important challenge in organizational interventions. Based on research, we think that practicing every day during a few minutes could be helpful to build new behaviours at work. Gamification practices are about how to learn new skills and behaviours playing and having fun. So, we think that an App could be an optimal tool to reinforce transfer through practicing every day with a social game. Moreover, an app is a easy way to measure daily emotions and behaviours, getting both qualitative and quantitative data.
I hope to have answered to your question.
Best,
Gracias Alberto! and the answer is ‘yes’, I’d like to work in an organisation like the one you describe đŸ™‚ I am also interested in the mobile application you suggest, the ‘gaming aspect’ will certainly appeal to those more ‘competitive’ attributes we tend to show at work. I wish you well in Montreal and hope you keep in touch. Suerte!
¡Gracias por tu comentario, Karina! Of course, Let´s keep in touch.
Alberto, I really like your intervention aims to help people connect with their best possible self and experience achievement and well-being over time seems comprehensive and well thought-out with regards to the components it seeks to enhance: mindfulness to increase self-awareness, core values/motivation/signature strengths, developing of positive coping strategies, growth mindset and resilience and leveraging resources. I would like to learn more about how the workshops and app would work. Hopefully we can continue this discussion within the WOD.
Hi Jenny. Thank you very much for your words. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend to Montreal. However, my colleague Cristian Coo will be ther. We are working toghether, so if you are still interested in continue this discussion about our project, you can do it with him. Cheers!
