Thank you for registering for the Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology.  We look forward to welcoming you to Montréal and to providing dynamic educational programming and engaging networking opportunities.  To help you prepare, we’ve compiled the notes below: 

Congress Mobile App

Download the World Congress App to access the latest information on the Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology!  You can flag sessions of interest, view floorplans, read abstracts and search for speakers by name.  Best of all, it’s accessible from all devices with an internet browser: smartphones, tablets and laptops. You can download the app for free by searching the app store, visiting this link: apps.documedias.com/ippa2017 or scanning the barcode below. You can also create your own personalized itinerary by marking sessions as favorites within the app or by creating an account within the online planner.  Visit the online planner and choose “sign in” in the upper left menu.  From there, select “create an account” if you haven’t already.  Once your account is created, you can flag sessions to create your own itinerary.

CE Information

The Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology has been approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF) for up to 25.75 Core Competencies.  Please check the chart below for a breakdown of available CCEs per day.

Language

The official language of the Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology is English.  While the Congress is not providing translation services, please contact us for referrals or for assistance in setting your own translation arrangements.

Schedule

Plan to arrive in Montréal in time for the Opening Plenary Session featuring Martin Seligman and Sonja Lyubomirsky.  This first session begins at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 13th.  If you’ve registered for a pre-Congress session, those begin starting at 9:00 AM on Thursday.  The final session of the Congress Program ends at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 16th.  Visit our online program for a complete schedule of all programming.

Congress Meals

Full Congress registration includes the following meals and snacks.  Breakfast and dinners each day are NOT included in the registration fee and are the responsibility of individual attendees.

Volunteers

Please consider volunteering at the Fifth World Congress! Your collaborative volunteer efforts enrich programming for your colleagues and foster a memorable experience for all attendees.  By volunteering your time and talent, you will be assisting in making the Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology the most fulfilling gathering of its kind. To volunteer, please check the “I want to volunteer” box on the registration form, then check the boxes for the days you want to volunteer.  Volunteers will receive additional information and updates via email beginning in mid-April.

The International Positive Psychology Association is excited to take the World Congress outside of the United States for the first time, and our choice of Montréal brings us to a vibrant, modern, multicultural city with a rich and storied past.  Celebrating its 375th anniversary, Montréal has blossomed into one of the world’s most modern and dynamic metropolises, filled with both centuries of history and the newest trends. During the Fifth World Congress you’ll be able to experience the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and the explosive L’International des Feux Loto-Québec, a fireworks competition that lights up the Montréal night skies all summer long.  Plan to spend some extra time exploring the cuisine, culture and entertainment.

Travelling Internationally?

Find out what you need to visit Canada as a tourist or business person and what documents you need to carry with you to transit through Canada.  Visit the Government of Canada Immigration and Citizenship website.

Review the Congress’s official recognition letter form Canada Border Services.  Please feel free to download a copy for presentation with your passport.

Attire

Attire for the conference is business casual.  Montréal weather can vary so pack appropriately. In a program like this, with a big space and lots of people, the temperature is never right for everyone.  We will do our best to make it the most comfortable for the most people, but please dress in layers.

Students

Verification of your student status as a current enrolled full-time student, in good standing, in an accredited, degree-granting academic program studying positive psychology or a related discipline is required. Student registrants must present verification of student status (i.e. a current student ID or transcript) within 10 days of Congress registration to avoid paying the higher registration rate. Simply email documentation to info@ippanetwork.org or fax to 1-888-389-9687. Missing documentation will require you to make additional payment before you arrive at the event or onsite at the time of your badge pick-up.

Registration

All attendees should stop at the registration desk to pick up their badge, bag and conference program.  The registration desk is located on level 2 in Viger Hall.  The registration desk will be open during the following days/times:

Saturday July 15th 7am-5:30pm
Sunday July 16th 7am-12:30pm

 

Networking and Social Opportunities

The Exhibit Hall will be open each day between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM.  The Thursday dessert reception, lunch, including the Special Interest Group lunch on Friday, and both poster sessions will be held in the Exhibit Hall.  Be sure to stop by the exhibitor booths to thank these organizations for supporting our Congress and to learn more about research, programs, services and resources for the positive psychology community.  These are excellent opportunities to network with colleagues and to see the newest products and services showcased in the exhibit hall.

Be sure not to miss the World Congress Closing Reception Saturday night featuring Cirque Éloize.  Guest Registrations are available and include admission to the Thursday night desert reception and the Closing Party.  You can purchase a guest registration when you complete your own registration. If you’ve already registered and would like to add a guest registration, please visit the registration site and choose “Guest Reception Registration.”

Internet Access

The Palais shopping promenade (Level 1) is a free WiFi zone. This network is meant for browsing and checking email only. Speed and connectivity varies based on the number of users and bandwidth available. Free WiFi is also available in Old Montréal and the area surrounding the Palais des congrès. Attendees may purchase WiFi access on their own via credit card for other areas of the Palais if they wish.

Presenters should not plan to utilize wifi for presentations. Internet access is included at no additional charge if staying at one of the three official World Congress hotels.
