New Positive Psychology Programs

Dr. Andrew McClelland: Central Queensland University

Graduate Certificate in Positive Psychology (CH84)
Graduate Diploma of Positive Psychology (CL19)

Our new Graduate courses offer professional, practical training in Positive Psychology/wellbeing and resilience applications, and include training in coaching psychology, facilitating groups, and working with individuals, couples, and families. Evidenced-based research underpins the applied focus of the courses, as well as a focus on the importance of collective wellbeing at local and global scale – building from ‘what’s strong’ rather than ‘what’s wrong’. The courses are run online, and suitable for distance students (Australia, and overseas).

The courses are applicable to careers in a broad range of areas where knowledge and skills for increasing individual and collective wellbeing, health, and resilience can be utilised. Content has been developed in consultation with, and input from, The Wellbeing and Resilience Centre at SAHMRI (The South Australian health and Medical Research Institute). The Graduate Diploma units will build toward a Master of Applied Positive Psychology, which we aim to have running for 2019.

You will be trained in an extensive range of practical skills, evidence-based models, and practitioner approaches, providing the opportunity to develop and extend Positive Psychology/wellbeing expertise, and skills for working with individuals and groups. Unit modules also include the development of reflective practice, communication skills, presentation skills, relationship healing/building, and personal growth. Whilst the study is largely online1, you also will get to benefit – in real time – from the knowledge, skills, and expertise of other students in the courses, from expert Guest Speakers, and from the live online group teaching/training and discussions sessions with the unit coordinators.
