SIPPA Executive Committee Positions

Student Division of IPPA (SIPPA) is seeking new Executive Committee (EC) members who are passionate about positive psychology and dedicated to furthering SIPPA’s mission.  Please read below to learn more about available positions and the application process. Applications will be accepted until July 31, 2016.

SIPPA is currently seeking applicants for:

  • President-Elect
  • Communications Chair
  • Conference and Special Events Chair
  • Mentoring Chair

President-Elect

Position Responsibilities: The President-Elect’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Collaborating with the President and Executive Committee
  • Initiating and leading programming ideas to encourage communication and collaboration amongst SIPPA members (e.g. leading Action Team/Steering Committee)
  • Supporting each of the Executive Committee members on their respective projects
  • Spearheading SIPPA newsletter
  • Organizing and facilitating the application process for officer positions and student scholarships
  • Keeping a full record of all funds received and all funds disbursed, and will work with the Executive Committee to develop and revise SIPPA’s budget. The President-Elect will submit an annual report of the budget and a proposed budget for the following year on June 15th of each year.
  • Attending and keeping minutes for monthly business meetings
  • Reporting on the activities of the Communications Committee or other task forces at the monthly Executive Committee meetings and through mid-year (January 15th) and year-end reports (June 15th)
  • Acting as a liaison to IPPA board and all IPPA divisions

Length of Term: The President-Elect will serve for one (1) year beginning in July 2016, and will then serve the following year as President.

Communications Chair

Position Responsibilities: The Communications Chair’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

(a)    Attending monthly business meetings;

(b)   Building and Chairing the Communications Committee;

(c) Managing and providing support for all online communications, including the website, social networking sites, and member community;

(d) Reporting on the activities of their committee or task force at the monthly Executive Committee meetings and through mid-year (January 15th) and year-end reports (June 15th); and

(e) Acting as a liaison to IPPA.

Length of Term: The Communication Chair will serve for two (2) years, from July 2016 – July 2018.

Conference & Special Events Chair

Position Responsibilities: The Conference & Special Events Chair’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

(a)    Attending monthly business meetings;

(b)   Spearheading planning of SIPPA events at the Fifth World Congress on Positive Psychology in coordination with IPPA’s World Congress Planning Committee

(c)   Working with IPPA’s Program Committee to develop and pilot test new virtual learning events as desired

(d)    Reporting on the activities of their committee or task force at the monthly Executive Committee meetings and through mid-year (January 15th) and year-end (June 15th) reports; and

(e)   Acting as a liaison to IPPA.

Length of Term: The Conference & Special Events Chair will serve for two (2) years, from July 2016 – June 2018.

Mentoring Chair

(a) Help coordinate mentoring related activities for World Congress

(b) Assist with other World Congress planning and delivery

(c)  Develop future mentoring platform/community engagement program

(d)  Assist with other SIPPA EC duties as needed

Length of Term: The Mentoring Chair will serve for two (2) years, from July 2016 – June 2018.
