ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear IPPA Members,

We are excited to bring you the latest edition of our association newsletter.  In addition to announcements and an update on positive psychology activities in Europe, this month we turn our focus to the intersection of positive psychology and clinical psychology with four new articles from leaders who are bringing together these two important disciplines.  We hope you enjoy reading these contributions from Tayyab Rashid, Margarita Tarragona, Judy Saltzberg, and Giovanni Fava and Chiara Ruini.

If you have been following the newsletter closely this year, you might have noticed that each issue has shone a spotlight on the subject of one of our six new Divisions.  Our first issue in February brought updates from basic research stemming from last year's World Congress, our second issue in May featured contributions from the world of education, and today we turn to the  clinical Division.  Later this year we will bring you updates from the field of health, with coaching and organizations to follow in 2013.

Importantly, and excitingly, these articles in our newsletters represent just the tips of much bigger icebergs in each of these divisions.  There are far more articles we could pursue for each of these issues than time permits, and that is why we are so excited about the formation of these new communities within IPPA.  While we as an association must continue to broadly survey the field of positive psychology across the globe and across domains, there are leaders among us in each of these areas who can help us simultaneously look deeply into each discipline.

More than one-third of you have already expressed your interest in this new, deeper IPPA experience by signing up for the Division(s) of your choice.  (If you have not yet updated your division membership preferences, you may do so here.)  With more than 150 members per division, and in some cases nearly twice that many, we are off to a strong start.

As you will have seen in our announcement earlier this month, elections are currently underway for a Division President, Division President-Elect, and Division Secretary in each of the six divisions.  We will continue to update you on our progress during each stage of the elections, both by email and on our division officers homepage on the website.  Please take an active part in the elections process, either by running for office, nominating a respected colleague, or carefully reviewing the final candidates and casting your vote when the time comes.  These new leaders will work closely with you, our association and division members, and our existing leadership team to create new programming that will advance the mission of IPPA in each of these domains.

We hope you are as excited as we are as we embark on this new era in our association's journey.  If you have any questions, ideas, or comments along the way, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at anytime.

In the meantime, please enjoy this newsletter, and we hope to see you in Los Angeles next summer for the 3rd World Congress.

Best wishes,

James O. Pawelski, Ph.D. & Robert J. Vallerand, Ph.D.
