Thank you for being part of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). As such, you are part of the tremendous and exciting growth of positive psychology around the world. In less than one year, IPPA has grown to 4,000 members in over 70 countries!
This amazing growth has brought with it some amazing opportunities and challenges. How can we facilitate communication across so many geographical locations, professions, and interests?
One way is through the First World Congress on Positive Psychology. We hope you will all join us in Philadelphia June 18-21, 2009. If you haven’t already signed up, please visit our updated website to register, make hotel reservations, and submit an abstract.
Another way we are trying to facilitate communication across the IPPA membership is through a dramatically enhanced website. Renovations to our current website will take place in two phases. We have already begun the first phase, which has included a transition to a new database solution. (If you haven’t already done so, please bookmark the new member login to access your membership benefits. http://secure.ippanetwork.org/
We will be rolling out phase two of this development over the coming months. The final product will be a robust, Web 2.0 social networking website that will allow members to interact with each other via a Member Directory, discussion threads, We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to complete these various phases of website development. With website updates, there are often issues that require fine-tuning. We regret that some of you may have recently experienced difficulties. Please be assured we are working diligently to resolve any issues, including some corrections made in our system before we can turn on the Online Directory feature.
We are excited about the robust communication features that will shortly be a part of our website. We believe they will bring us all closer together, wherever we may live, so that we can more effectively carry forward the research and application in positive psychology that is so important to all of us.
